Time's Speed

One friend of mine was challenged to keep his finger over the tip of a lighted candle for 2 seconds.
The prize was a prestigious title. He smiled and appeared as if he had already won it.
We lit the candle and encircled it.He came and kept his finger over the flame. The timer in Amit's phone started and immediately stopped..
The pride was lost and the windfall seemed as if it had ditched him.
After that, no one among us spoke anything..only smiled.

Our holidays were about to end.We were to return Kanpur on eighth. His girlfriend was to arrive Lucknow on sixth, only a day before they could meet.Seventh was the full longggg day the had planned beforehand:from 10am to 6 in the evening.Unfortunately, he was the same bravo mentioned above!
But 'a full longgg day' seemed to sound really long..except in case of a girlfriend..On eighth,I met him in LKM, 7:30 in the morning. His face seemed dull. The full seventh day of the month passed within an hour, he complained..Poor fellow!

But actually its not his mistake. Its our mind which cheats us.We think of time as a scale with equi-distant notches, similarly as a ruler is for distance.
Time can only be defined in terms of interval between any two events in this universe.Basically clocks do not run with time.Clocks define time.

First came clocks..then time was defined.
What is a clock? All that glitters may not be gold, but all that 'ticks' is a clock.
Then, a tick in any thing, any event which occurs.

Now we have sufficient base to establish ourselves.
If everything stops, even light, then how would the time be measured. How will any two time instances be differentiated.
There is possibly no answer.
Again there would be nothing like time if no matter existed!
Mincing words, it can be said that , (when matter undergoes any change, two states are defined: initial and final.)#
Now,mass.Mass is nothing but a MEASURE of inertia. It has nothing to do with MATTER, except that matter always has some mass(inertia).
Referring #,we can say that initial and final states can never occur together:Law of inertia assures that matter resists change and thus is logically bound not to exist in two places(or in two states) together.
Whatever we get on subtracting the costs of two states is time interval.A time interval during which no event occurs is a point of time(a snapshot).Logically its easy to infer that nothing is infinitely small;not even a snapshot as is already said. Nothing is continuous, thus.
In other words, if anything would be massless, LOI would not apply and two(or more than two, possibly infinite) states would be sure to occur together. Thus if no mass existed, all snapshots would would be same and no time interval would ever be completed..Its like trying to walk on a frictionless floor without any support.
Thus time is since matter is.And nothing else.
